By enumerating powers that it possesses, the Constitution constrains the national government by implicitly denying it other, unmentioned powers. A major goal at the time was to protect individual liberty. Fast forward to today. Do you think that we as citizens have given up too much of our liberty and created a national government that is too powerful? Or, do you feel that the accumulation of power by an ever-expanding Federal Government is justified by the many challenges we face as a society and a nation?
